MyClearStep vitals and blind weights
Connect a patient's MyClearStep Numberless Scale, blood-pressure cuff, and thermometer. Readings arrive automatically, weights stay blind, and home vitals past medical-instability thresholds raise an alert.
MyClearStep makes the Numberless Scale for blind weigh-ins, a medical-grade blood-pressure cuff (including lying and standing readings), and a smart thermometer. When a patient connects it to Pippa, every reading arrives on their record as it happens. None of it is shown to the patient.
Connecting a patient
On the patient's Customizations tab, open MyClearStep and switch on Offer "Connect MyClearStep" in the app.
In the app, Settings → Sharing & privacy → MyClearStep → connect. They sign in to their MyClearStep account and approve sharing. The card on your side changes to Connected by the patient.
You can't link on their behalf, and you never see or enter a MyClearStep ID. If they haven't connected yet, select Email the patient a request in the same card: they get one note saying their provider asked, with an Open Pippa button. At most one a day. Either of you can disconnect at any time, and readings that already arrived stay in the record.
What you see
A Vitals (MyClearStep) card on the Overview: the latest heart rate, blood pressure, temperature, and weight, anything past threshold, and the recent readings. Weigh-ins also feed the weight trend, the same way other weigh-ins do. The card is clinician-only and hidden in patient view.
Alerts
Home readings are compared with the SAHM 2022 vital-sign criteria for medical instability. Anything past them in the last 14 days raises an At risk alert:
| Finding | Threshold |
|---|---|
| Heart rate | Below 50 bpm daytime, below 45 at night |
| Blood pressure | Below 90/45 |
| Temperature | Below 96°F (35.6°C) |
| Heart-rate rise on standing | More than 40 bpm under age 19, more than 30 bpm from 19 |
| Blood-pressure drop on standing | More than 20 systolic or 10 diastolic |
A lying or sitting reading and a standing reading taken within 15 minutes of each other count as one orthostatic check. MyClearStep's own quality flags, such as an unusual weigh-in, raise a Watch alert.
These are home readings. A single low value can be a cuff or position error. Confirm it, and follow your clinic's protocol for medical instability.
